This site is the home of the Bucks County Technical High School Education Association. The BCTHSEA is comprised of teachers, counselors, school-to-work coordinators, the media specialist, the school psychologist and the school nurse.

BCTHSEA members are graduates of BCTHS (10%), graduates of the six sending districts (41%), relatives of BCTHS graduates (24%) and taxpayers in the six sending districts (60%).

BCTHSEA was established in 1971. In addition to advocating for its members, BCTHSEA works hard to advocate for the students of BCTHS, for Career & Technical Education and for education policies that benefit all public school students.

What's all this talk about a schedule change?

What’s more important – your child’s test scores or your child’s future?

Bucks County Technical High School officials are thinking about a drastic change in scheduling for your students. They are doing so because the federal and state governments say our combined test scores are not high enough. We disagree. We are your children’s teachers – all 120 of us.

We believe the change – which means less time spent on technical education in favor of more continuity of academic instruction – would hurt our students. NOT EVERY STUDENT DOES WELL ON PAPER AND PENCIL TESTS. Everyone knows that – except the politicians and bureaucrats who pass senseless rules affecting children. They may mean well, but people who mean well often cause great damage.

Many of our students struggle with tests that don’t measure applied knowledge. BUT MANY OF THESE SAME STUDENTS HAVE A KNACK FOR FIXING CARS, OR WORKING WITH MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, OR DOING COSMETOLOGY, COOKING, HEALTH CARE OR SUCCEEDING IN ANY OF THE 31 TECHNICAL AREAS. All students will be negatively impacted by the proposed change to a half-day schedule.

PLEASE HELP US HELP YOUR CHILDREN. Write or call BCTHS administrators (215.949.1700.) or your representative to the joint board. Attend the parent information night or the January Joint Board meeting. Urge them NOT to change the current schedule.
